Save money with these great long distance phone services. The easiest way to find the service that works best for your calling patterns, within your state, is to use the long distance search engine below. Most of these long distance telephone companies offer rates as low as 4.5¢ per minute state to state with some of them, like Iphone, offering true rate billing with rates all the way down to 2.9¢ per minute.

The company that offers the best service and is the cheapest in most states is Opex. I signed up with Unitel because they were the cheapest in Oregon, but if you're in California, check out PNG. In California, PNG's rates are 3.9¢ to 4.19¢ per minute for instate and 4.5¢ to 4.9¢ per minute out of state with 6 second billing.

If you made 10 calls on AT&T, Sprint or MCI that were 1.1 minutes each, they would charge you for 20 minutes of long distance. (10 calls X 2 minutes = 20 minutes because they round up to the next minute). At 5¢ per minute, that would cost you $1.00. For those same calls, Unitel or PNG would charge you for 11 minutes (10 calls X 1.1 minutes = 11 minutes (rounded to the next 6 second increment)), at that same 5¢ per minute, it would only cost you 55¢. Six second billing will save most people quite a lot of money each month.
